Degustabox October 2017

I do love my selection of subscription boxes! They’re mostly beauty related, so Degustabox really spices things up each month – pun intended! Not only that, my whole family can enjoy the contents unlike the others.

If you like the look of this box and want to order for yourself with no commitment, visit and enter code DANNIIU-A03B to get yours for just £5!*

*Subsequent boxes are £12.99 inc delivery each month. Using my code gives me points towards a free box.

As always, the box is delivered via courier and the cheerful fellow just made my day by humouring me, asking if my Mum was home! I would have liked it even more if he hadn’t ended it with “only joking, love”.

The box is packaged amazingly well with bubble wrap and filled to the brim!

The Contents:

Lee Kum Kee – Sauce for Garlic Prawns & Lee Kum Kee – Sauce for Honey Garlic Spare Ribs (RRP 2 x 85p)

Chinese flavour sauce sachet.

Sauce for Garlic Prawns: This is advertised as a stir fry sauce for prawns so that’s what I did! I added some stir fry, beansprouts and veg and served with the rice (which is featured a bit further down)

It was absolutely delicious – seriously good! Not spicy at all but really tasty!

Sauce for Honey Garlic Spare Ribs: This is advertised as a stir fry or marinade for ribs, but we don’t really eat ribs so we had it with chicken instead & I added sesame seeds. It was beautiful! I served with sweet potato fries and crusty bread (but forgot to take a photo, doh!)

HIPPEAS Organic Chickpea Puffs (RRP £2.29)

Vegan friendly, a good source of protein and fibre.

I really wasn’t a fan of these. They’re not cheesy enough for my liking and I can really taste the chickpeas. My 21 month old Daughter enjoys them though! The bag is ginormous so they should last a while with a giant food clip.

Pulsin Kids’ Fruity Oat Bar – Orange Choc Chip (RRP 59p)

Gluten free & natural ingredients.

This is really yummy and great for younger children as it’s almost ground into a paste and then set, there are no really big chunks or anything. The fact it is made with 1/3 less Sugar than most childrens’ fruit snack is another bonus. I’m not a huge fan of orange flavoured chocolate but this bar had the perfect flavouring!

Heinz No Added Sugar Hoops (RRP 75p)

My kids love hoops so it was a nice addition to the box knowing they have no added sugar. We love these on toast!

Michel et Augustin Cookies (RRP £1.60)

Oversized cookies made with free range eggs, real hazelnuts & a gooey centre.

These are DELICIOUS, especially if you pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds so the centre gets REALLY gooey! Would I buy them again at £1.60 for 2? Not a friggin’ chance!

Valfrutta / Cirio (RRP £2.29)

Ready to eat Mediterranean dish.

I received Riso Basmati Lentils and it states you can eat cold with salad or heat in the microwave or in a pan. The packaging will be updated according to Degustabox as it’s currently all in Italian & not yet available in the UK. Fortunately, Degustabox translated the cooking instructions on the product card so I heated for 2 minutes in the microwave and ate it with a stir fry. It really wasn’t my cup of tea… tasted quite bitter so I had to mixed every mouthful with the prawn stir fry so it was edible!

Nuttvia Breadsticks Snackpack (RRP £1.70)

Breadsticks and a Chocolate Hazelnut Spread with no palm oil and 97% less sugar.

My Son is a massive fan of Choc Dips & Nutella (cheaper versions of Nuttvia) but he enjoyed this one just the same! He inhaled them and they were gone in approximately 2.46 seconds.

Kabuto Rice Noodles Thai Green Chicken Curry (RRP £1.99)

Gluten free noodle dish.

A posh pot noodle is how I would describe this product. It is SO hot & spicy! Having said that, I’m the world’s most sensitive spice-a-phobe so it may be pretty mild to everyone else?! It definitely had lots of flavour though.

Feel Good Drinks Water Infusions (2 x £1.20)

100% Natural Ingredients.

Orange & Mango: This was my favourite. Enjoy it cold & it tastes like something out of Costa!

Strawberry & Mint: This one was a little too watered down for my liking but I still liked the flavours!

Degustabox picked two little Halloween treats for the box…

Pechkeks Misfortune Cookie (RRP £1.50)

Black cookie/black humour.

Such a perfect and funny little Halloween treat! Ours read “judging by your karma, you must have done something really bad in a previous life”! Ha!

Vimto Millions Gift Jar (£2.99)

My kids spied these straight away so I had to grab a handful before they went. Really nice little treat! Love the flavour.

In every box you get a recipe card using an ingredient from the box. This month’s edition is Spiced Shepherd’s Pie using the low sodium salt. Looks amazing & one I will definitely be trying!

OVERALL: I enjoyed this box. A few items were hit & miss but I guess you get that with every box. There is usually one of us out of the 5 that would enjoy something that the others don’t! We had some yummy meals & a few snacks to enjoy. I think the price is fab for what you get & I’m always excited to see what is coming in the next box.

Will you be buying? Don’t forget my code!

Love, Dannii
