Degustubox Review September 2017 – FIRST BOX!

I’m no stranger to monthly subscription boxes, albeit I’m more swayed by ones with pretty packaging, filled to the brim with glorious stuffs for my skin, face & hair…

So when I saw a sponsored post on Instagram about Degustabox (after an initial giggle to myself about it being such an odd name for a food company), I was intrigued. I had a quick google & saw that while there are a few known brands in the previous boxes, a lot of them were brand new, not yet in supermarkets. The products I saw varied from non alcoholic beer to multipacks of crisps and pasta sauces. I figured this would be a fun idea & I signed up!
3 days later DPD delivered my first box & it did not disappoint!

If you like the look of this box & want to order for yourself with no commitment, visit www.degustabox.com and enter code DANNIIU-A03B to get yours for just £5! *
*Subsequent boxes are £12.99 inc delivery each month

First thing’s first; it arrives via DPD & you get a text the morning of the delivery with an hour time slot. You can change delivery info if you won’t be in.

GREEN & BLACK’S VELVET EDITION DARK CHOCOLATE (RRP £1.99)

I’m not a fan of dark chocolate so this one went straight in my Mum’s handbag. If it was milk chocolate it wouldn’t have even made it into my cupboard.

NESTLE CHEERIOS OAT CRUNCH (RRP £2.49)

This was VERY welcomed! A huge pack. I love oaty cereal anyway & I love Cheerios – recipe for perfection!

MISO TASTY RAMEN NOODLE KIT (RRP £2.99)

Noodle soup with added health benefits? Yes purrrrlease! I have a whole chicken to cook so I’ll use the leftovers + some pack choi with this.

WILD PLANET ALBACORE WILD TUNA STEAKS (RRP £3.49)

100% pole & line caught tuna steaks. They recommend not draining the fish from the oil but to mix it in instead for extra taste. Tuna & sweetcorn pasta for us this week!

KNORR CONCENTRATED BEEF STOCK (RRP £2.20)

I usually use Knorr stock cubes (also gluten free) but I was happy to receive this. I also received a spag bol recipe card with this box using this ingredient so I guess we’ll have spag bol this week too!

MENTOS MIXED MINT SHARING POUCH (RRP £1.19)

The kids have nabbed these unfortunately. A mix of peppermint & spearmint chewy mints – yum!

LATIN AMERICAN KITCHEN BY SANTA MARIA (RRP £1.85 each)

Rice & sauce, this looks lush! I received Spicy Red Rice & Garlic & Tomato sauce. I think I’ll use more leftover chicken with this & the rice for another dinner this week.

VIRTUE ENERGY SPARKLING WATER (RRP £1.35 each)

I received Berries & Lemon and Lime flavours and they are seriously good, particularly the Berries.

DREAM RICE QUINOA (RRP £1.60)

Pron. ‘KEEN-WAH” (sorry, had to do it. If I can save one person from the perils of mispronunciation for the rest of their days, my purpose has been fulfilled). Haven’t tried this yet & I’m VERY funny with milk substitutes… I think I’ll make pancakes with it in the first instance. Good for dairy free diets!

GREEN’S EGG CUSTARD MIX (RRP £0.69)

OK, I’m not a fan of egg custard. The thought of it makes me want to heave…
…Any suggestions what I can do with it (NOT TARTS!)
MY VERDICT: Very impressive! I have the basic ingredients to make at least 3 meals, breakfast for the week (5 of us) & a pudding + drinks & treats. I’m really looking forward to trying it all!
